According to the ancient scriptures, during the Satya Yuga, a catastrophic cosmic storm threatened to destroy the entire creation. Fearing the end of the universe, the gods approached Lord Vishnu for protection. Lord Vishnu performed intense penance near the sacred Haridra Sarovar (the yellow turmeric lake) in Puri. Pleased by his devotion, the supreme goddess of power, Sri Bagalamukhi, emerged from the yellow lake in a blinding aura of golden light. With her divine power of Stambhana, she instantly pacified the cosmic storm, restoring peace, order, and equilibrium to the cosmos.
